A 16 member delegation of Dutch Young Farmers Association today visited CII Agro Tech at the Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh today and interacted with the local farmers sharing their farming experiences as they went around the Fair.
Mr. Eric Pelleboer of DB-NAJK Akkerbouw stated that we are here to study about Indian farming industry and look at possibilities of collaborating with Indian farmers for the common good and benefit of farmers of both countries. What we have seen at CII AgroTech looks fairly impressive and professional, but there are many new techniques which the Dutch industry can impart to Indian farmers and help them increase the productivity at their farms..
“Our objective of visiting India is to know about Indian agricultural and farming practices. There are many concepts which we can learn from here and many which we can impart to the Indian farmer, especially in dairy technology.” stated Ms. Matilde Thomin
Masse Fergosam, a farmer from Holland stated that the experience of their entire Group in India and at AgroTech had been very good as the people of India are very friendly and easy to interact with whereas in Netherland people take time to open up..
Kees Vlot, a dairy farmer stated, “To help make both the Indian and Netherland economy boom, we have to get into a tie up through investing into each other’s agricultural industry specifically in dairy production. We are keeping an eye out for such partnerships,”
Jorrit Postma, another dairy farmer stated that only Holstein Friesian cows are being bred in the Netherlands. “What we have seen in India is that the farms are much smaller in India than in the Netherlands, but Holstein Friesian cows can really help improve the productivity and profitability of such dairy farms,” he added.
