Gurgaon: MIW foundation has organized a “Free Medical &
HIV/Aids Awareness Camp” held at Godrej Frontier Construction Site, Gurgaon
wherein doctors from government and non-government participated in the Camp.
The camp was organised with support of Godrej Properties Ltd., Feedback Infra Services Pvt
Ltd. and Shapoorji Pallonji Engineering &
Construction.
The Camp
was organised to provide Medical Relief which included free general medical
consultation, ENT consultation, dental clinic, distribution of free medicines ,
free eye check-ups and consultation by known ophthalmologists.The camp also
addressed special issues like malnutrition, awareness on hygiene, importance of
timely vaccination and immunisation of children etc.

Another
highlight of the Camp was that along with free medical assistance it also had a
dedicated HIV/AIDS AWARENESS PROGRAM which addressed various issues like
details about the disease, how it is spread, how it can be prevented, how it
can be diagnosed at early stages, medication, centres/clinics/hospitals/dedicated
rehabilitation centres providing medical assistance and counselling to those
who have been diagnosed with the disease and their near ones and also spread
message relating to HIV/AIDS. The promotional and educational material on
HIV/AIDS for the workshop was provided by
International Labour Organisation (ILO). More than 700 people from weaker
sections of society including resident of slum areas, casual workers, labourers
etc. got benefitted from this “Free
Medical and HIV/Aids Awareness Camp”.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ashish Bhutani, Managing Trustee, MIW Foundation said
that there is a necessity of providing cost free medical services to the
inhabitants of slum areas and other marginalised people who cannot afford high
cost of medication. At the same time it is imperative to educate people and
bring awareness about fast spreading dreaded disease like HIV/AIDS amongst
people. He said that this camp was purposefully organised to address both these
social issues wherein free medicines, medical consultation about various
ailments and a dedicated HIV/AIDS awareness program was held. He further stated
that these kinds of camps should be conducted regularly for providing Medical
Relief and creating awareness about social evil like AIDS so that more and more
people can be saved from this dreaded disease.
It shall be our continuous endeavour to organise such camps frequently so that
people can benefit from it.”
