function at all major Hotels, Lake, Plazza & IT park etc.deployed in the city area to maintain law & order. 21 traffic nakas speciallyto check drunken driving were also put on in city-area. Total 112 challans

were issued for traffic rule violations which include 88 of drunken drivingand 24 of other Misc offences. 88 Vehicles were impounded violating thetraffic rules. Police personnel were also deployed in parking places to avoidauto-theft. 56 Nakas To avoid waiting in maturing 100 number calls, existing 5 call-takers meant for receiving the calls at Police Control Room, Chandigarhwere extended to 10. were received on 100 number, for 188 calls PCR vehicle dispatched forpublic help. at Police Control Room on 100 numbers, for 129 calls PCR weredispatched for public help. City remains peaceful during the New Yearcelebration and no major event occurred in the city.During the night from 8 pm to 2 am, 2008 callsAs compare to last year-2011 eve, 1341 calls were received
