Chandigarh March 1st, 2013/safalsoch /Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, a premier Hotel Management Institute under Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, organised a Blood Donation Camp in the institute for the students.
The students at the institute are encouraged to imbibe the principle of community service and be generous and large hearted - bound by beliefs beyond themselves. Organizing a Blood Donation Camp is just another step in this direction. 
Both the faculty and students of the institute participated actively. Around 250 students showed enthusiasm and participated actively in the noble cause. There was an overwhelming response for the camp in the institute. Students appeared to be keen on donating blood, a component that has no substitute.This camp was organised in collaboration with Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) and State Bank of India, Sector 37, Chandigarh.Mr. Madhukar Anand, AGM, SBI acknowledged the efforts for the noble cause. Doctors from PGIMER appreciated the efforts of the institute in organising the blood donation camp. “We have got a very good response from the institute. It feels good when people come forward for a noble cause, especially when we see enthusiastic feeling of youngsters for mankind” and added that requirements of safe blood were increasing and regular voluntary blood donations were vital for blood transfusion services. They indeed applauded the efforts of the organisers in encouraging the youth and conducting the camp. “Each life is valuable and blood donation is a service to the society” said Mrs. Bharti Tyagi, Principal of the institute. She appreciated the students and staff members who donated their blood.The institute organizes the Blood Donation Camp every year and each every time the participation and the awareness increases bringing in more donors.The donors went through a series of medical checkups before donating blood and were given refreshments and a certificate of appreciation for this service to humanity. A confidential blood test report and a DONOR’s card shall be provided to the donors by PGIMER, Chandigarh.The event was a huge success with a large number of students and teachers turning up for the cause.
