ANNUAL VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS EXHIBITION AT YADAVINDRA PUBLIC SCHOOL, MOHALI

The Junior Wing of Yadavindra Public School today organised its AnnualVisual and Performing Arts exhibition, where the students displayedtheir talent under nine categories of hobby groups.The performing arts began the show with the Indian and Western Musicgroups enthralling the audience. The Indian music group performed‘Raag Bilawal’. The instruments used were harmonium, banjo, taanpura,tabla, congo, dholki and xylophone. There was also a choir performancegiven by the group. The Western music group gave an equallyreverberating performance by playing the classical piece ‘Beethovan’s‘Fir Elise’ as a solo piano performance and ‘Canon’ by Pachelbel inorchestra. There was also a choir performance in Latin ‘Dona Nobia’(grant me peace).A display of all facets of theatre such as mime, histrionics, theatre
games and exercises was showcased by the children of the Theatre HobbyGroup.The Indian Folk Dance Group performed a form of Kathak on asemi-classical song, while the Bhangra Group, dressed in colourful
Punjabi folk attire presented a foot tapping thematic performancebased on farmers celebrating their season’s yield.The corridors of the Junior Wing came alive with a kaleidoscope ofcolourful, art and craft items. The motto of ‘best out of waste’ wastruly imbibed by the children in the Art and Craft group. Recycledpaper, wooden spoons, bottles and beads were used to make varioususeful household items.The talent of the Pottery Group was exhibited in the village scenethat they recreated showcasing utensils, toys, figurines of farmersand animals.A plethora of beautiful paintings, tie and dye bags, dupattas, knittedand hand embroidered items adorned the corridors of the Junior Wing.These articles were made by the ‘Tie & dye’; painting, and, NeedleworkHobby groups.Classes I and II displayed their agility, flexibility and control by
effortlessly performing cartwheels, wheelrolls and human pyramids.Gymnastics is a part of their curriculum.
Intellect and creativity was exhibited in abundance by the CreativeWriting Group through their stories and poems. Reporting skills ofthese young minds could be witnessed in the form of their daily diaryentries and reports on various hobby classes.
