The officers of State Bank of India held massive demonstrations all over the country today i.e. on 30th November, 2012 in front of all Local head Offices, Administrative offices, Zonal/Regional Business offices on the call of “All India State Bank Officers’ Federation” condemning the adamant attitude of the Management in victimization by use of draconian rule of 19(3). All members of nearby branches and Administrative office, Punjab joined the members of Local Head office and demonstrated in the campus of Local Head office, Sector 17, Chandigarh . Moreover, the loud slogans raised by the members were an expression of strong resentment against indifferent and callous attitude of SBI Chairman.
Comrade D K Sharma, President, SBI Officers’ Association, Chandigarh Circle while congratulating the members for implementing the action programme on massive scale throughout the country in a very successful manner and criticized the Management for charge-sheeting the General Secretaries and Presidents of 14 Circle Associations and invoking draconian Rule 19(3) in case of three retiring office bearers of AISBOF. He called upon the members to follow the action programme in letter and spirit and to gear up for a long struggle to defeat negative forces.
Comrade M K Virmani, General Secretary, SBI Officers’ Association, Chandigarh Circle apprised the members that this prolonged agitation is taken up not demanding any monetary benefits for our members but only to protect the self respect and dignity of more than 80000 officers of State Bank from the onslaught of the management and this frontal attack on the legitimate Trade Union Rights. He assured them that dignity and self respect of our beloved members shall be protected at all costs. He called upon the members to be prepared for any action including indefinite strike in case the Management continues with its anti trade union, anti officers and anti bank policies.
The demonstration is loud, clear and the warning to the management against arbitrary actions, which will vitiate the cordial industrial relation atmosphere in the bank for which the Federation have contributed immensely. The officers also wear black badges as a mark of protest to the anti-officers policies of Bank’s top management.
