Today,
a bid farewell was given to Shri Pradeep Kumar Srivastava, IPS DGP/UT at Police
Lines Sector-26 who was retiring after serving 37 years in Indian Police. Shri
P.K.Srivastava joined Chandigarh Police as IGP in February 2010 after serving
various prestigious posting in Delhi
and other part of country. He was
promoted as ADGP on August 29, 2012.
Under the command of DSP SH. B.S,Negi, Nine contingents of
farewell-parade salute the DGP/UT.
Beside the contingents of police personnel, parade also followed by
Mounted Police, Dogs Squad, Traffic interceptor, PCR Vehicle, QRT, Mobile X-ray
Van, Police Hospital vehicle, Road safety exhibition van and Riot Control
Vehicle etc. Senior Police Officers and
all DSPs along with their families were also present in Farewell function at
Police Lines.

SSP/Operation, high light the services render by DGP/UT during their stay in
Chandigarh Police as well as during their 37 years service in Indian
Police. He said Shri P.K.Srivastava as DCP/PCR,
Delhi was
pioneer of modern Police Control Room. The establishment of that PCR helped in
tackling terrorism in Delhi . As SP/Andaman Nocobar Island, he took
interest in protection of aboriginal tribes of jarwas and also started
initiatives to protect the coral wealth of A&N island. As DCP/South, he arrested R.C.Sharma a front
man of Daud. As DCP Crime he busted the
match fixing racket involving Hansie Cronje, the captain of South African
cricket team. As CVO/MCD, he supervised
the demolition drive and contributed to the beautification of Delhi .
As IGP/DGP, UT, Chandigarh , he re-invented the beat
patrolling system. He also took special interest in community policing by
initiating and supporting gully cricket.
He is instrumental in allotting 60 acres of land which will provide
accommodation to 1600 policemen. He also procured land for IRB, Chandigarh . He also took
interest in the renovation of shooting range. It was due to his consistent and
dedicated perseverance that about 600 constables will be getting promotion
after a long gap of 20 years. Shri
P.K.Srivastava was bestowed with Police Medal for Meritorious Services. Shri
P.K.Srivastava has been blessed with the unique quality of exceptional human
being, outstanding leadership, gifted talent of out of box thinking, constantly
initiating measures for the welfare of the force, leading the force from the
front and always ready to welcome new measures for protection and security of
citizens of Chandigarh .

P.K.Srivastava, DGP/UT during their address thanks to all police personnel from
the rank of Constable to DIG/UT for their cooperation in serving the better to
general public. He also pointed out that
his top priority was to provide adequate houses for police personnel, he made
efforts in procuring land in Dhannas for housing colony and got sanctioned lift
provision in houses for the first time in Chandigarh so that no body run for
ground floor houses. Demand for ground
floor houses is more reasoning that old parents are staying with cops. He also
made fruitful efforts in procuring land for IRB Campus. He stress the need of Police recruit training
centre, so that Chandigarh Police should not depend on neighboring state for
efficient training. He also made efforts
for separate shooting range Chandigarh Police.
He also suggested that there should be separate podium for photographers
at police line so that they can click photographs easily rather than running
here and there.
At
the end Sh. Alok Kumar, IPS DIG/UT thanks the DGP/UT under whose outstanding
leadership and unique quality exceptional human being, Chandigarh Police
provided the protection and security to citizen of Chandigarh through community policing. On behalf of Chandigarh Police he wished best
of luck on his post-retirement life and assured that we will try to complete
the mission left behind by him.
