Ludhiana, November 25- satpal soni /Local residents of Sarabha Nagar observed Guru Nanak Dev Ji's birth anniversary
with a difference, this time, by campaigning against drug abuse, female
infanticide and promoting plantation on 'Nagar Kirtan' held today. Gurdwara Sarabha Nagar president Jatinder Singh Sandhu said here in a statement
that they along with IHRO and other social and human rights groups, while
holding three stages en rout at stop-overs of the Nagar Kirtan, highlighted the
Guru’s mission to the devotees and make them aware regarding Gurdwara Sahib’s
activities.He added: "We are coordinating four projects- 'Rural
Education', 'Rehabilitation of Drug Addicts', 'Voice Against Female
Infanticide' and 'Environment Care', through Educational Welfare Committee
(EWC) of the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana with other social organizations. The
'Nagar Kirtan' started at 10 AM from Gurdwara Sarabha Nagar which was led by
Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Panj Piara's and followed by hundreds devotees,
including Gurdwara committee members and students from different schools
adopted by Gurdwara Sahib. He further added that eminent Sikh scholars, Ragi's, Dhadi's and social
activists, at the Nagar Kirtan procession at stop-overs shared their views
explaining Gurshabad, Nanak - bani and other social issues confronting Punjab for which the Gurdwara Sahib has initiated these
projects. Eminent scholars and social activists who addressed the devotees
included, Dr Ranjit Singh, Hardeep Singh Brar (Maheeda), Giyani Puran Singh,
Principal Jaspreet Kaur (Dhanansu), Prof Manjit Kaur (women’s rights activist),
Charandeep Singh (Environmentalist), besides Karamjit Singh Grewal, an upright
singer on social issues, especially on drug addiction.
